WGEI Members’ Meeting, 15th – 19th June 2026, Brasilia, Brazil

The Chair of the INTOSAI Working Group on Audit of Extractive Industries (WGEI) and the Auditor General of Uganda, and as the Host SAI and President of the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil, cordially invite you or your representative to the sixth meeting of all members of the Working Group on Audit of Extractive Industries. The meeting will take place in Brasilia, Brazil, from 15th to 19th June 2026.

The theme for this year’s meeting is ‘Critical Minerals in Energy Transition: Global Trends and Governance Implications’.

The objective of the meeting is to discuss critical matters concerning WGEI, but specifically:

  • Discuss topical issues and emerging areas in the extractive industries and design strategies of addressing them. The theme for the Conference will focus on critical minerals, global trends, challenges and the expected SAI response.
  • Share experiences with technical experts and other international bodies involved in the extractive industries.
  • Discuss the WGEI activity performance reports under the work plan (2022 – 2025).
  • Discuss and approve the WGEI draft work plan for the period 2026 – 2028.
  • Present and discuss the new WGEI audit tools and guidelines.
  • Chart a way forward for the Working Group.

The deliberations at the meeting will form the basis for the WGEI Chair’s report to the 18th meeting of the Steering Committee of the INTOSAI Committee on Knowledge Sharing and Knowledge Services (KSC).

The host and WGEI Secretariat will bear the costs of the Conference including venue, break teas, lunch, cocktail, two dinners and transport arrangements between the venue and hotels as indicated on the programme. As part of the Institution’s contribution, we request that each participating Institution bear the cost of air tickets, accommodation, transport to and from the airport and applicable allowances for its respective delegates. Airport transportation, however, may be arranged by the organizers exclusively for Heads of SAIs.

The Conference venue will be the Headquarters of the Federal Court of Accounts of Brazil (TCU).

For the convenience of delegates, the host has negotiated discounted accommodation rates with selected hotels. Detailed information on these hotels is provided in the Participant Handbook.

Delegates are kindly requested to make their own reservations directly with the respective hotels, in accordance with the instructions provided in the email accompanying this letter.

Detailed logistics for delegates is also provided in the Participant Handbook. In the meantime, please note that, while you are free to choose any accommodation, shuttle services to the event venue will depart exclusively from the Grand Mercure Brasília Eixo Monumental – North Wing. Participants staying at other hotels who wish to use the shuttle service should proceed to the designated departure point.
